A field guide to the CrazyGames build
The driver, who is you
One character in this game has no name plate of their own. Everywhere else the box says Maggie, Edith, Ethan or Juan; when the player speaks, it says You.
What the client shows
The title screen is a grey truck seen from the side, a stick figure at the wheel wearing a
green cap, a sun drawn in the top right, and two buttons: BEGIN and CREDITS. The figure
is drawn brown, with a flat mouth, and does not move on that screen.
After BEGIN the same figure appears in the rain, and later walks to the diner door as a
silhouette while three other silhouettes sit inside. Inside the diner the player is never
drawn again; the game switches to first person and only their lines appear.
The name plate
Every spoken line in the game carries a plate. In the first act the plates read:
| plate | who |
|---|---|
| Maggie | the person behind the counter |
| Edith | the guest in the third screen's booth |
| Ethan | the other guest at that table |
| Juan | the guest alone in the fourth screen |
| You | the player |
You is the smallest plate and the only one that is not a name. The portrait beside it is
blank in the frames we took; the other four characters all get a drawn portrait.
What that means for a guide
Anything the player says is quoted as You: rather than attributed to a character name,
and there is no way to find out what the driver is called. We looked for it in the title
screen, the intro, and every dialogue box in the first act; the word never appears.
Not tested
- Whether
CREDITSlists a name for the player character. - Whether the driver is ever drawn again after the diner door.
- Whether the cap colour means anything; it is the only colour on the character.
- Whether the game lets you change the character's appearance.
