A field guide to the CrazyGames build
The television, and the forecast it reads out
The room has one object that talks back without being a person, and it is the television on the back wall. Its broadcast is four lines long and one of them explains the storm.
What it is
Above the booths on the second screen to the right of the counter hangs a television
showing a slowly scrolling band of colour bars. It is the only thing in the diner that is
not a person and still prints dialogue: clicking it puts TV where a character's name
would go and prints a line underneath.
The bars are an animation, not a picture — they never settle, so a screenshot of the set always catches them in a different place.
The four lines, in order
| # | what the client printed | who it is attributed to |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | "In our next story, Lisa is a 13 year old entrepreneur making five figures a month!" | TV |
| 2 | "…Hang on Marge, we need to jump over to weather for an update on the storms passing through. Homer?" | TV |
| 3 | "Thanks Bart. The rain is really coming down, however the local authorities have not declared a flooding emergency. They are encouraging everyone to stay put until the storm passes." | TV |
| 4 | "Thanks Homer. So Lisa decided one day…" | TV |
The speakers' names swap between line 2 and line 3 — one anchor asks for Homer, the next thanks Bart and then Homer again. That is the joke, and it is also why these lines are quoted here rather than summarised.
Why line 3 matters
Line 3 is the only place in the build where the storm is described as a thing with an official status: rain, no flooding emergency declared, authorities telling people to stay put. Every character who mentions the weather — Maggie at the door, Edith at the booth — is reacting to that state rather than to a forecast of their own.
It also names the reason the diner is full: nobody is supposed to be driving.
Not tested
- Whether the broadcast changes after an ending, or after the first act.
- Whether the four lines always print in this order.
- Whether clicking the set again replays them or advances them differently.
- Whether the woman and the man at the next booth can hear it; they never react to it.
