A field guide to the CrazyGames build
Two ways to move, and one thing that stops both
There are two ways to walk this diner and one condition that turns both off. We measured each of them rather than taking the list on the portal's page at face value.
The mouse
One button, and it does two different jobs.
| what you click | what happens |
|---|---|
| a person, a door, the radio, the TV | the thing answers: a dialogue box, a dial, a broadcast |
| the grey chevron at the left or right edge | the camera moves one screen in that direction |
| empty floor, wall, or table | nothing at all |
The edge arrows only exist when no dialogue is open. While a box is on screen the arrow inside the box (bottom right) advances the text, and the edge arrows disappear.
The keyboard
The game's own page on CrazyGames lists this under Controls — "AD, left/right arrow keys, and space to move left and right" — and it is not filler. We checked it:
node tools/keys.mjs d2500 # hold D for 2.5 s
diff of the canvas region 99,170 px changed
Holding D for two and a half seconds walks from the counter to the far right screen with
the EXIT door. Holding A for four seconds walks all the way to the left-hand booth with
the woman in it. The key does not step one screen at a time: it is a continuous walk, so a
short tap nudges and a long hold crosses the whole diner.
The lock
Movement does not work while a dialogue box is open. We tried holding D with a box on
screen and the canvas did not change; clicking the box's arrow to close it and starting to
hold D again moved the camera immediately.
This is the single most useful thing to know if you are hunting for something in this diner: finish the conversation first, then walk.
What we have not tested
spaceand the left/right arrow keys on their own; we measuredAandDonly.- Mobile: the portal says the game runs in portrait, but we only played the desktop build.
- Whether a click on the floor was ever meant to do something.
- Whether the walk speed changes anywhere in the diner.
A note on the five screens
The diner is a loop of five camera positions, and the keyboard walks through them in one
continuous motion rather than snapping. From left to right they are: the back door with the
booth in front of it, the front door and the counter, the counter with the radio table, the
booth where Edith and Ethan sit, and the booth where Juan sits beside the EXIT door.
